Quarantine Home Improvements

7 simple projects to keep you sane during Quarantine!

While our country copes with the coronavirus, leaving most of us stuck at home, we’d like to help with the question that’s on most people’s minds:

What should we do while we’re stuck at home?

Paint the Front Door

You can change the appearance of the front of your home drastically with a fresh coat of paint. This is a DIY home improvement project that almost anyone can do! Applying a new finish will restore the look of your front door. With just a few basic supplies, you can add some major curb appeal!

Revamp your Garden Beds

With Fall just right around the corner, it’s a perfect time to dig up some of those plants that didn’t survive the summer heat and replace them. Late summer and fall are ideal times to plant perennials that flower in spring and summer. When you plant in the fall, early-season bloomers have a chance to built root systems and establish vigor.

Tackle the Closets

For closet storing items other than clothing, clear and labeled storage bins are a great space-saving organizational tool.

“Keep only those things that speak to the heart, and discard items that no longer spark joy.” – Marie Kondo

If you don’t have the time or space for an outdoor garden, a kitchen garden is a great alternative. Herb gardens, small veggies, and flowers not only provide you with fresh produce but also add a unique and natural design element to your space.

Hang Shelving for Storage

Shelving is a great way to add storage or a nice decorative touch. This can be a super affordable project using supplies like old pipes, rope, and scrap lumber from your local hardware store. Adding vertical storage in small places like a bathroom is a great way to maximize storage!

Refresh your Outdoor Furniture

Get out that pressure washer that has been sitting in the corner of your garage. Give your outdoor furniture a good spray and your ready for some paint! A fresh coat of paint and they look brand new! Your metal patio set will thank you for saving it from rusting.

Envision your Dream Backyard

Take a look around and try to imagine what your space will look like in each season and start planning ahead now for new projects! New flower beds, a fire pit, or maybe a privacy tree line to block pesky neighbors are all great space enhancers!
