Zero-Waste Halloween Tips

Searching for zero-waste Halloween tips? Fear not, fellow tree-huggers, with a little preparation and the right supplies, you can have a fun and environmentally friendly Halloween!

We are aware that due to COVID, some people are choosing to skip the door to door tradition. We encourage you always to be safe and wear the proper face protection no matter your choice. There are also several safe and creative ideas for contact less trick or treating!

Treats without any Tricks

Give out treats that don’t need plastic wrapping. If you have trick or treaters coming to your home, you can stay in on the fun by purchasing candies that come in paper boxes or individually wrapped foil that can be recycled with ease.

These take out style boxes can also be filled with candy and offer an appreciable no-contact solution.

Bulk bin candy is another excellent option that is affordable and eco-friendly. You can make cloth baggies, so they are easier to hand out. Hanging up a low line of string or twine and clipping the bags to it with clothespins can effectively distribute treats safely.

Skip the Store-bought Decorations

Stringy plastic cobwebs and cheap skeletons seemed fun when they first came out, but now they seem like what they are… a bunch of plastic waste. Get crafty and use this as an opportunity to reuse things like cardboard – cut out and color your decorations makes for a fun, kid-friendly (and eco-friendly) activity!

Get some help from mother nature! Branches and leaves can be used for fantastic fall decor. When it comes to pumpkins, buy real ones instead of plastic. A carved out pumpkin can be used for decoration, and these insides can be used to make a pie or some yummy roasted seeds.

Compost your pumpkin afterward to keep the cycle going!

Every little bit counts. You don’t need to change your lifestyle all at once to be more eco-friendly this Halloween. A little positive planning and forward-thinking can go a long way.

From all of us at Earthadelic, we hope you have a safe and Happy Halloween!

We are now scheduling Fall/Winter 2020 projects! Let us show you what we can do inside and outside your home!
