The Jackson Hardscape and Landscape Project

The Objectives:

To create an outdoor living environment for family gatherings and their children. Rachel Jackson said, “We want to maximize the useable outdoor living space in the backyard for the children and family fun.”

The Challenge:

The back yard is heavily sloped.

The Design Solution:

The unique project design addressed the needs of both children and adults. One side has a beautiful, open natural stone patio surrounded by a circular custom brick knee wall with natural stone caps and a matching firepit. The area will accommodate 20 to 30 adults. The opposite side of the yard has a large playground for the children. A stone walkway connector allows easy movement between the two areas.

The Installation Approach:

Earthadelic raised all new outdoor living areas to a new level…literally. On the children’s side of the yard, the severe slope was corrected with a terrace constructed of large 8’ x 8’ treated timbers. Inside the terraced area, we installed a complete drainage system covered by a compacted aggregate base and topped with rubber safety mulch. The custom patio side of the hardscape was beautifully terraced into the existing slope with a masonry block and matching brick retaining wall. We then finished it off with colorful and stately landscaping.

The Result:

Michael and Rachel Jackson are absolutely thrilled with their new outdoor living area! They have already enjoyed several family outings, or “innings” if you will, this winter with the comfortable glow of a warm fire, fine conversation with friends, and all topped off with the laughter of children.
